Here at Rufus' Guitar Shop we have many highly qualified and personable instructors who teach a variety of musical styles and instruments. Lessons are available on Acoustic Guitar, Classical Guitar and Electric Guitar and Bass in styles such as folk, rock, pop, blues, jazz, metal and slide guitar among others. Lessons are also available on bluegrass and oldtime banjo, mandolin, ukulele and voice!
We charge $25.00 for a half-hour private lesson. Lessons
are available on a "drop-in" or continuous basis. If you
book and pay for your monthly spot in advance, the rate becomes
$23.00 per half-hour times the number of lessons in the calendar
month.

Scott Adair
Scott has been teaching at Rufus' for 8 years and utilizes jam-along tracks to keep things rocking! Great with kids and beginners, rock and classic rock is his specialty for more advanced students as well as acoustic and blues. In addition to guitar and bass he is also a Class II ATPL Flight instructor. Check out the classic rock jam he hosts Saturday nights at the Collingwood Branch Legion at 20th and Fraser!

Dave Gannett
Dave is a Fanshaw College graduate and is our resident slide guitar expert as well as teaching acoustic fingerstyle, blues, rock, mandolin, ukulele and more! Dave performs around the city and has appeared on numerous recordings.

Catherine Hiltz
Catherine came to us after completing a performance diploma at Grant McEwan College in Edmonton. Her teaching resume includes acoustic and electric guitar, bass, cello and theory! When not at Rufus' she can be found performing at various clubs in Vancouver as a session player or touring with her band Hot Panda.

Phil Kikuchi-Demarsh
Phil has studied guitar since 1986 and his expertise covers a variety of styles including lap steel and slide, acoustic fingerstyle, blues, pop and rock.

Daniel Nargang
Danny studied classical guitar at RCM Regina and has performed with many high profile rock and metal bands. His specialties include classical guitar, rock, metal, folk, blues, bass and mandolin. Danny had the honour of auditioning as guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne and is currently the frontman for Canadian rock band KickAxe.

Chris Russell
Chris has studied jazz and classical performance at both Grant McEwan and York University in Toronto. His specialties include acoustic fingerstyle and flatpicking, jazz, rock and metal, bass, piano and theory. Chris performs in both the bluegrass trio Tishomingo String Band. and the metal/fusion trio Minotaure.

Guenter Schulz
Guenter comes to us via the Guitar Blankeneser Konservatorium and Universitaet Hamburg in Germany. He was a member of the band KMFDM in the '90s and has toured the world many times. Currently he performs with his projects Schulz, Slick Idiot and performs jazz music locally. Guenter's teaching specialties include jazz, rock, metal, classical and bass. Spencer Symington
Spencer recieved his Bachelor of Music from UBC in classical performance. As well as teaching RCM classical guitar and theory, Spencer also covers jazz, blues and rock territory.

Kun Wee
With his RCM Grade 10, Kun specializes in classical guitar and theory for all levels. Beginner acoustic students are welcome too! Korean language lessons available.

Devon Wells
Devon is our Bluegrass expert, covering banjo, mandolin and guitar! He received his Bachelor of Music from York University and teaches folk, rock, pop and ukulele as well as bluegrass. Devon can be seen performing in his acoustic trio Tishomingo String Band.

Sarah Wheeler
Sarah studied voice and composition at VCC and SFU here in Vancouver and has two solo records to her name. Folk, pop, rock and vocals are Sarah's specialties. Check out her website here
