Made in England by Clifford Essex circa 1929, this rare 5-String banjo is steeped in history! Included in the case are vintage receipts, newspaper clippings from the ’20s, assorted tools and several vintage Benson & Hedges menthol cigarette packages(now filled with an assortment of picks). Though originally an open-back model, this banjo has had a resonator plate installed by one of it’s previous owners. Evidently this banjo made it’s way around the Vaudville circuit here in Vancouver during the ‘Roaring ’20s’. Still in good playing condition, though the action is on the high side mostly due to a very tall bridge. Great vintage sound, gorgeous appearance with almost 100 years of stories to tell!
