-1948 Gibson L-12 Archtop Guitar
-One of the rarer Gibson archtop guitars, only made from 1930 to 1955. Very similar to the famous L5 model with a 17″ lower bout but much more affordable.
-A slim Kent Armstrong pickup has been added to the guitar with an endpin mount output jack. The controls were originally top mounted on the pickguard but have been replaced with thumbwheels at the pickguard edge. Cosmetic buttons cover the holes from the top mount pots.
-Original gold Kluson Deluxe single-line tuning machines with recent vintage correct tuner buttons; original compensated adjustable Brazilian rosewood bridge base with replacement saddle. Vintage correct hand antiqued gold trapeze tailpiece.
-Full sunburst finish, original lacquer in very good condition.
-One tuner has been replaced with a vintage gold Gibson Deluxe, and a short grainline crack has been soundly resealed at the bass f-hole.
-A small decal on the back of the headstock shows that this guitar was purchased new from Parker Music, still in business 60 years later in Houston
-Originally owned for 4 decades by Houston based Bluesman Lester Williams who performed with greats such as Dinah Washington, Billy Eckstine and Nat King Cole. Performances can be found on youtube with this exact guitar. Vintage press clippings and music included with the guitar remind you of its rich history.
