True Fender history; 1966 Maple cap neck Telecaster Made primarily from 1966-1968, the maple cap necks began to appear after Fender switched from full maple necks to a maple neck with a separate rosewood fretboard in 1959. These telecasters are known to be missing a skunk strip in the back and the walnut plug on the headstock. Some people desired the old Leo Fender way, so he decided to quietly offer these maple cap necks until they became standard in 1966 after the CBS purchase. This era came to an end in 1969, making guitars like this truly a part of guitar history. The playability of this guitar is to us, where it shines.
