In 1951, Fender released the Telecaster. While they were celebrating the controversial yet superstar instrument, they were secretly working away on the Stratocaster design. A guitar based off of the Telecaster yet aimed differently. Built in Tremolo system, more contoured body including two cuts, and 3 pickups instead of one. Releasing it 3 years later in 1954, it took the world by storm. Only 4 years from that, we have the version that is very close to the Stratocaster that we love and is widly known: A 1958 Fender 3 Tone Sunburst Stratocaster This guitar we have represents some of the best elements of the a 1950’s Stratocaster that is greatly desired, such as: -Vintage hand wound pickups and electronics – Single ply pickguard -One piece maple neck -Ash body -Beautifully aged and patina on the body and metal The 1958 Stratocaster was the first year for the hailed 3 Tone Sunburst. Stemming from the 2 tone, the 3 tone added a red component. In tangent with the finish they changed the standard neck profile from a pronounced ‘V’ to a rounded ‘D’. When we first got this guitar, it blew us away visually, but the real treat of this guitar is the sound and playability. The pickups have an incredibly clear and dynamic sound to them. Something that makes this guitar interesting is that there has been an upgrade to the pickup selector, turning the 3-way switch into the common 5-way. The bridge pickup is hot and direct. Perfect for soloing whether you prefer pedals or natural amp gain! The hailed 4th position combining the middle and neck pickup is completely noiseless and spanky. Safe to say it is the ultimate 4th position tone, best we’ve heard! More on the playability, the neck is incredible easy to play. Your hand glides up and down the neck with ease while the neck feels solid, it is broken in and soft on your hand. At some point this guitar had a professional refret with standard sized frets, which helps make this easy to adjust to. This guitar is begging to be played! Weight: 7 lbs 2 oz Serial Number: 30747 Comes with the original tweed hardshell case with orange lining and the whammy bar
