MojoHandFX Mojo Hand 1979 Op-Amp Fuzz

Description:

Say “hello” to the 1979! An evolution of the now discontinued Mojo Hand FX 1978, the 1979 is based on the notoriously high gain Big Muffs that were manufactured during the late 70s. Favored by many players for it’s outrageous grungy distortion (most notably Billy Corgan), it features op-amps instead of the traditional transistors found in every other Big Muff variant.

The 1979 features a footswitch to bypass the tone knob, so you get ALL the bass, ALL the treble, and a HUGE helping of extra mids and volume. Perfect for slamming your amp into a ripping solo, or doom/stoner mode. But most importantly, the tone bypass has it’s own volume knob so you can set it to unity or boost! We also adjusted the taper of the original gain pot to have a more usable sweep.

This peculiar Muff uses an IC, instead of the traditional transistor set, resulting in something that’s both familiar and different at the same time. The sound is more raw and aggressive than a typical BMP. Please do not expect subtlety. This pedal does not “clean up well” with your volume knob. It doesn’t sound pretty. It’s probably not appropriate for waltzes or jazz standards. It’s not supposed to be. It smashes you in the face.

Enjoy.

Like all Mojo Hand FX products, this pedal is housed in a sturdy, die-cast aluminum enclosure with professional powder coating and printing.

JHS Pedals Bonsai Overdrive

Features:

In the late 1970’s the overdrive pedal was arguably perfected when Japanese engineers designed the sound that we now know as the heart and soul of so many of our favorite artists, recordings and sounds. Players ranging from The Edge, Trey Anastasio, Buddy Guy, Kirk Hammett, John Mayer, SRV, Carlos Santana and thousands more from every possible genre have utilized and depended on this classic iconic green box. If a single effect pedal was chosen to board a Voyager 3 mission and be solely responsible for showing the universe the sound of overdrive, it would undoubtably be Tube Screamer. It is probably the most produced and sold pedal in the history of guitar pedals! The Bonsai is our tribute to one of the greatest pedals ever created.
Following in the steps of our Muffuletta (released 2015), the Bonsai utilizes a simple rotary knob to switch through nine classic, vintage, rare, or hard to find variations of the Screamer. Creating the Bonsai became an archeological dig of sorts that sent us deep into the history of this circuit by examining dozens of versions, variations and replications. At the end of it all, Josh chose nine of his personal and favorite units and we painstakingly replicated every nuance and aspect of each pedal. One of the most challenging parts of this project was accounting for component drift as many of these pedals were decades old and the internal components had strayed from their original values. Each pedal was individually replicated using our Audio Precision analyzer and various other methods that allowed us to perfectly replicate every aspect of the sound and feel of the unit. It’s important to know that the Bonsai is not a “box of mods,” it is exact replications of these nine units all housed in one box! The Bonsai is exact replication, not emulation. When you choose a mode on the Bonsai rotary, you are actually activating components specific to each mode and playing the unit that Josh chose along with all the quirks, drift, vintage mojo, and individuality that a vintage pedal has.
Lets take a look at the 9 modes of the Bonsai based on the 9 pedals we have chosen…

OD-1 – 1977
An overall brighter and slightly higher gain mode that does not utilize the Tone knob. This mode also inverts signal just like the original and has symmetrical clipping. The OD-1 is magical at boosting other drives or amps into singing saturation.

TS-808 – 1979
The classic low gain with that signature pronounced mid range.

TS-9 – 1982
Nearly identical to the TS-808 but with a slightly more pushed low-mid range.

MSL, Power or L Series – 1985
Though metal is in the name, this sound doesn’t quite inspire the modern metal djent we think of. Still it has a higher gain sound with a more low end and an overall more gooey feel.

TS-10 – 1986
Made famous by John Mayer, this model is a slight upgrade from the TS9 for the late ’80s. Bluesy, crisp, more low end roll off and low gain.

Exar OD-1 1989
The EXAR is a Polish made TS-style pedal that has a slightly different drive character with a little more gain than the classic screamers as well as a slightly more transparent feel.

TS-7 (+mode) – 1999
The hot mode on this version gives you the highest gain sound in the Bonsai. More low end and dirt fill out the tone to have you shredding away.

Keeley Mod Plus – 2002
Robert Keeley’s classic mod tightens up the tone on the original giving you smoother mid range and high frequencies, and increased bass response.

JHS Strong Mod – 2008
Our own mod we’ve been doing since 2008 is much cleaner and overall more powerful. The mode has more pronounced higher nd low end drop offs.

With the JHS Pedals’ Bonsai you can get the classic sounds of nine Tubescreamers in one pedal. Let the Bonsai help you find your overdrive zen.
This pedal requires standard 9V DC Negative power, consumes less than 100mA, and measures 2.2″x4.8″x1.6″.

ThorpyFX Pulse Doppler Analog Phaser – Vibrato – Trem

The PULSE DOPPLER PHASER is the first design ThorpyFx has released since Dan Coggins became a full time member of the team.  This fully Analog Phaser is a MKII version of the Doppleganger, taking all that was great about that vintage pedal, mixing it up, distilling it  and releasing a more compact, and easier to utilise version. It was designed from the ground up to provide the most incredibly versatile and original phaser sounds with an insane  level of versatility from an analog effect.

With rotary controls for Depth, Rate, Blend, Enhance, and Manual coupled with two toggle switches and two footswitches this analog pedal keeps it functionally simple but is a deceptively feature packed beast. For stereo pedal enthusiasts, they will be pleased to know that the Pulse Doppler has both dry and wet outputs. This pedal allows you to deliver an almost unlimited tonal pallet no matter what your mood/style or guitar and amp setup. The premium sound is enhanced through the use of premium components all wrapped in a beautiful custom engineered enclosure.

Each pedal offers the following features:

  • Five knobs to control Depth, Rate, Blend, Enhance, and Manual.

Mooer Gas Station-Based On Diezel Hagen

MOOER micro preamps are sonically accurate digital recreations of the preamp sections of popular tube amplifiers. We have developed these by directly analyzing real tube amplifiers using a brand new technology to capture their sound, dynamics and response. Each Micro Preamp comes complete with dual channels, integrated speaker cabinet simulation and dual operating modes to suit the needs of all users. Initially we are releasing a set of 10 models, each based on a different popular tube amplifier from a range of manufacturers. These have been designed to be used with the upcoming MOOER power amp or in the effects return of any standard guitar amplifier. The speaker cab simulation allows the user to connect direct to a soundcard, powered monitor or P.A. without the need for a guitar amp or speaker cab at all.

Beauditude Entropy Distortion Device – Metallic

This device pairs a highly destructive Distortion Preamp with a set of crystal clean Frequency Modelling Amplifiers, and connects them through an Entropy Gate which can either promote or inhibit signal transmission; the result is an incredibly high gain, ripping distortion that lets a full and dynamic range of frequencies break into beautiful harmonics. The setting of the Entropy Gate allows a range of high input sensitivity (the sounds of fingers resting on strings) to almost complete insensitivity (heavy strumming required), creating long sustaining feedback to short stuttering glitches and everything in between. The frequency modelling is done via two active amplifiers, raising the Treble or Bass within the mix, and the active Volume control ensures there is plenty of signal to push your amp. The EDD uses a standard 9v power supply with a built-in charge pump that provides different levels of headroom for the purposes of distorting or remodelling the input signal.

Controls

Gain:

The preamp gain level sets the distortion intensity – at very low settings the preamp will not cause clipping and is easily gated by the Entropy Gate. At higher settings, the preamp can boost the signal loud enough such that the gate only modifies the texture. In this way, the Gain and Entropy controls can be quite interactive.

Entropy:

The Entropy control offsets the bias of the gain stage amplifier which causes gating of the signal and a more ripping, velcro-like distortion. At extreme settings (full CW or full CCW) the gating effect is quite pronounced and sputtering fuzz-like textures can be achieved when not strumming hard. The 12 o’clock position is 0 offset and produces the smoothest distortion and the most sustain.

Treble & Bass:

The Treble and Bass controls are both additional amplification stages. Fully CCW is no boost and fully CW is a significant boost.

Volume:

Set level of output signal.

Powered by a 9v centre negative 2.1mm DC input.

Mooer Cali-MK3

Based on a Californian modern day classic, CALI MK3 is a session players dream. The clean channel can go from pure clarity to light crunch. The drive channel starts where the clean channel left off and goes all the way to ultra high-gain that would make even the most hardened metal head go weak at the knees. With an incredibly variable EQ stack on each channel, CALI MK3 can achieve tones for just about every style of music, making it an incredibly versatile piece of kit. MOOER micro preamps are sonically accurate digital recreations of the preamp sections of popular tube amplifiers.
